I only found out recently that my grandmother, Maud, was born to two English parents. So far, I haven't had much
luck in establishing contact with Joe Campbell's side of the family.
Joseph (who might have been known as Big Joe, given that his son Joe was called Wee Joe) died young at 36, probably
from the heart condition that affects my dad's side of the family (dilated cardio-myopathy), although we can't be
certain. Maud then married John Weir, but didn't have any more children, thereby avoiding any complication about
half-brothers and half-sisters. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but describing how one person is related
to another can be hard enough without all that.
